Major Crimes Unit
The Major Crimes Unit (MCU) assumes responsibility for the indictment of violent felonies, which include attempted murders, serious assaults, carjackings, robberies, burglaries, and motor vehicle violations. Additionally, the MCU is responsible for handling cases of familial violence, not involving minors.
The MCU comprises of three community prosecutors whose responsibility is to collaborate with the police districts to address community requirements and prosecute cases arising from the corresponding districts within the Prince George's County Police Department. The Unit is composed of a team of 12-20 prosecutors and support staff.
