Investigative Unit

Overview

The investigative unit is an instrumental support system for the State's Attorney's office. It serves the crucial role of conducting interviews with both witnesses and defendants.

Possessing full police powers, investigators are authorized to make arrests. It's their responsibility to investigate complaints and allegations brought to the attention of the State's Attorney's office for the purpose of filing criminal charges and carrying out prosecutions. When required, they provide security to the State's Attorney and Assistant State's Attorney.

Additionally, the investigative unit approves disinterment requests for individuals who may require this service.
