Ex-boyfriend rapes woman with minor child in vehicle
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – This week, a Prince George’s County Circuit Court Judge handed down an above-the-guidelines sentence to Daniel Hardie of 20 years active prison time for raping his ex-girlfriend, announced State’s Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy.

Just prior to sentencing, 24 year-old Hardie, of District Heights, entered into an ABA plea agreement to second degree rape by force. An ABA plea agreement, is a binding agreement that is reached between the Office of the State’s Attorney, the defense, and the Court. On November 22, 2018, Hardie invited the victim, ex-girlfriend, to Thanksgiving dinner with his family. Before taking the victim home, he drove her to another location, strangled her and forcefully raped her while her minor child was in the vehicle. Hardie received the maximum penalty for this charge and will be subject to lifetime supervision upon his release. In addition, he must register on the Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life. “I am pleased that this case has been fully resolved and that society can breathe a little easier knowing that this violent rapist is being held accountable for his heinous actions and cannot harm anyone else for a very long time,” State’s Attorney Braveboy said. “I also applaud this victim and her family for having the courage to stand up to her attacker throughout this process in the criminal justice system.”
