MAN GETS 50 YEARS FOR MURDER OF 24 YEAR OLD FATHER IN BROAD DAYLIGHT

UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Today, after pleading guilty to first degree murder and use of a handgun during a crime of violence, Franklin Scott, 29, received a total sentence of life, suspending all but 50 years, in prison for the murder of Lamont Adair, 27, in August 2018. On August 8, 2018, at 3:53 p.m. officers from the Seat Pleasant Police Department were dispatched to 6602 Greig Street and upon their arrival found a man identified as Adair suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m. Video surveillance showed that Scott was later identified as the man who drove to the location of the incident and shot Adair from inside his vehicle. Scott then exited the vehicle, walked over and shot Adair several more times. He then got into the vehicle, which then fled.

According to the sentence handed down by the Court, upon release, Scott will also be on supervised probation for a period of five years and must register as a gun offender. “I want Lamont’s family to know that there is no consolation for their tremendous suffering and loss, but I hope that today’s outcome provides some level of peace knowing that the man responsible for this tragedy will not step foot onto the streets of Prince George’s County for a very long time.” said State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy.
