Charlie Stevenson found guilty of the fatal shooting of Anthony Forrest in Landover.
UPPER MARLBORO, MD (March 6, 2023) –Twenty-one-year-old Charlie Stevenson, of District Heights, has been found guilty of the second degree murder of Anthony Forrest, age 34, in October 2021. Stevenson is facing a potential maximum sentence of 60 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 8, 2023.
After a four-day trial and six hours of deliberation, Stevenson was convicted of second degree murder and use of a firearm in a crime of violence.
On October 22, 2021 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Prince George’s County police officers responded to a Hyattsville location for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, they found a male victim, Forrest, of Washington, DC, in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center for treatment where he later succumbed to his injuries and died.
The investigation revealed that Stevenson and Forrest knew each other and were involved in a dispute after Forrest was dropped off at the location of the shooting. Further investigation along with witness interviews identified Stevenson as the shooter and revealed that he shot Forrest multiple times in the chest just before driving off in a black Mercedes Benz with tinted windows.
“This is a case in which two people who knew each other were having a conversation that turned into an argument, ultimately leading to one young man killing the other. Gun violence has no place in our county and will not be tolerated. If you take someone’s life there will be consequences and you will answer for your crimes,” said State’s Attorney Braveboy.
