One Man, One Trial, Guilty on Two Separate Domestic Violence Incidents
UPPER MARLBORO, MD – After just two hours of deliberation, a jury returned a guilty verdict on first degree attempted murder, first degree assault and weapon related charges against Steven Branch, of Washington, D.C. The convictions stem from two separate domestic violence related incidents on February 8, 2019 and April 5, 2019. Convicted on a total of 10 charges, Branch, 35, is facing life in prison and will be sentenced on December 20, 2019. On the morning of April 5, 2019, Branch went to the victim’s home and after determining she was alone, he shot her. The Prince George’s County Police Department responded to a call for a shooting and made contact with the victim who was suffering from gunshot wounds to her shoulder and hand. The victim identified Branch as the man who shot her. “My Office is committed to the fight against domestic violence,” said State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy. “I want to thank the attorney on this case for the dedication and hard work put into getting this dangerous man off the street and I hope the victim can sleep a little sounder knowing she received justice.”
