Re-Elect Aisha Braveboy for a 2nd Term

During her second term, State’s Attorney Braveboy plans to continue to build on the work she has done in the courthouse, the legislature, and in the community. She officially began her first term on January 7, 2019, and was re-elected on November 8, 2022, in the general election.

PGSAO

The State's Attorney's Office (SAO) is tasked with safeguarding the rights and interests of the approximately one million residents of Prince George's County. The legal division of a state's attorney's office is compartmentalized into multiple departments, each handling various aspects of criminal law. To assist the State's Attorney, a team of several hundred attorneys, prosecutors, investigators, agents, and support staff operate across numerous offices situated throughout Prince George's County.

Braveboy Highlights:
1st Term Accomplishments

  • Created a Conviction and Sentencing Integrity Unit, the first of its kind in the state of Maryland.

  • Successfully fought to strengthen Maryland's Hate Crimes statute, regulate "ghost guns", and make strangulation a first-degree felony.

  • Launched several new countywide initiatives – the Prince George’s County Carjacking Task Force and Our Streets, Our Future.

  • Expanded the Back on Track program and other diversion opportunities.

  • Implemented a program for Emerging Adults (youth between the ages of 18 to 26 years old).

  • Hired the FIRST sight-impaired Assistant State's Attorney, for Prince George's County.

  • Increased starting salaries for Assistant State's Attorneys from 57K to 80K.

Units & Divisions

The Office of the State's Attorney is the primary law enforcement agency for Prince George's County, responsible for trying a broad spectrum of criminal cases, including minor traffic offenses to severe homicide cases. At present, State's Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy oversees a team of nearly 200 employees dedicated to securing justice for those affected by criminal activities.
