The Department of Family Services improves the quality of life and overall well-being of the communities by providing information, assistance and referrals, as well as promoting and developing high quality, innovative programs that educate, empower, respect choice and preserve dignity. The department is responsible for providing assistance to some of the County’s most vulnerable citizens – children, families, victims of domestic violence, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, veterans and seniors.

DMV Mothers Like Me
DMV Mothers Like Me provides a hub of resources and recommendations for crime and crisis support, health and wellness programs, legal services, and a host of other information that may not be easily accessible otherwise.  We are also committed to partnering with community leaders and organizations to promote advocacy programs and related services available to affected families.

Roberta's House
Roberta’s House provides trauma-informed care and addresses grief as a public health service. We believe all children, adults, and families suffering the loss or death of a loved one should have support and a safe place to heal and recover.

Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants
The District’s Address Confidentiality Program (ACP), administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG), provides a legal substitute address for eligible DC residents to maintain the confidentiality of her or his actual address. This program helps residents who fear for their safety by shielding their street address from public records, providing one tool in an individual’s broader safety plan.

The Prince George’s County Family Justice Center, an initiative of the Circuit Court that provides a comprehensive array of services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and elder abuse through a coordinated, collaborative and HOPE-centered advocacy model.

Criminal Injuries Compensation Board


The Criminal Injuries Compensation Board is a remedial body designed to provide aid and assistance to victims of crime in Maryland. Our statutory authority shall be construed in all circumstances to remedy the harm to the victim and in favor of eligibility for the victim or claimant.

University of Maryland Capital Region Health Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Center​​
UM Capital is home to the only designated sexual assault center in Prince George's County and is the state leader in comprehensive domestic violence and sexual assault intervention. The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center (DV/SAC) helps women recognize, deal with, and heal from IPV and sexual assault. The center also helps survivors with medical, legal, and emotional support in a private and confidential medical setting.

Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office Victim/Witness Unit

The Victim/Witness Unit provides victims and witnesses with information, support, and advocacy services, and their families while involved in the criminal justice system. Our goal is to ensure the rights of victims and witnesses by providing the necessary assistance and services to speed their recovery from a criminal act and to support and advocate for them as they move through the criminal justice process. Services are standardized statewide to include components such as case status notification, court accompaniment, referral for counseling services, and safe waiting areas and more.

Maryland Crime Victims Resource Center

MCVRC’s victim advocates and attorneys serve victims of crime in every jurisdiction in the State of Maryland by providing a diversity of services including: information, referral and assistance; direct legal representation;  court accompaniment; support groups; community education;  criminal justice education; policy advocacy; technical assistance for allied professionals and criminal justice agencies; and faith-based referrals.
