ASSISTANT STATE’S ATTORNEY (CHIEF, PUBLIC INTEGRITY UNIT)

The Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office (PGSAO) is seeking a new attorney to lead the Public Integrity Unit.  The Public Integrity Unit is responsible for investigating and prosecuting misconduct involving government employees committing criminal offenses in their official capacity.  The Chief of the Public Integrity Unit reports directly to the State’s Attorney.  This position is an exempt position, meaning the Assistant State’s Attorney is a political appointment and serves at the pleasure of the State’s Attorney. 

DUTIES:   

 

  • Participates as a part of the PGSAO leadership team

  • Investigates and prosecutes public officials and government employees to include various financial crimes

  • Investigates and prosecutes police officers involved in departmental shootings, excessive uses of force, payroll fraud and other crimes

  • Responds to departmental shootings and other critical incidents involving police officers within Prince George’s County

  • Assists other units within PGSAO in prosecuting crimes involving off duty police officers

  • Builds and maintains the PGSAO “Do Not Call” List and Giglio List

  • Ensures that all assistant state’s attorneys are provided with discoverable information with regards to police personnel records

  • Provides training to both PGSAO and police agencies that operate within Prince George’s County

  • Aids in the development of the PGSAO Body Worn Camera Unit and subsequently oversee the unit

  • Advises and participates in the legislative process when it involves police reform

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR CANDIDATES: 

 

Applicants must have at least 5 years of prosecutorial experience and a strong background in complex criminal investigations.  Management experience, while not required, is preferred.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

  1. Must pass a background investigation

  2. Must pass a drug screen
