Community Affairs

Office of the State's Attorney for Prince George's County

State’s Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy understands that to be effective, stopping crime must be a community-wide affair.  The Community Affairs Unit was created to help the State’s Attorney involve the entire community in the effort to make our communities safer.
Through work with civic and neighborhood organizations, public appearances by the State’s Attorney and other staff, community meetings and a wide range of specialized outreach activities, the unit works to educate the public about crime and the criminal justice system, explain the role and function of the State’s Attorney’s Office, and increase community involvement.  Young people are a major target of the unit’s activities.
The unit is also taking the lead in convening community forums and other arenas for the public discussion of alternative approaches and to involve more people in diversion, reentry and crime prevention activities.
